Surrounding Area & Activities
River Rock Studio is situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, located one hour from either Banff or the Calgary International Airport and, 45 minutes from Kananaskis Provincial Park, or Canmore. The Ghost Lake reservoir – an 11 kilometre long lake and recreation on the Bow river – is only 10 minutes as well.
The studio’s wilderness setting and paths provide ample opportunity for nature excursions. Bordered by the Ghost River and close to the Bow River, the facility is also ideal for fly-fishing, canoeing, kayaking and river rafting. As well, there are several outfitters in the area who offer daily and extended trail rides, and the local roads and trails are well suited for mountain and road biking.
For those interested in a game of golf, there are numerous courses within a short drive covering the full range of handicaps and green fees.
